How do we learn something new?

**I swear I'm not trying to sound super meta with this title lol.**


The simple answer to this question is to just "do it", which is 50% of it, but the other 50% can be complicated. Depending on your stage in the learning process, just "doing it" may not be sufficient enough to move you along. In the earlier stages of the learning process, everything is so new, so it can be easy to continue to practice as there are many things you do not know. This is where many people make it when learning new things, however the road gets bumpy from here on. When you face your first major roadblock in your journey is when you are really tested. Will you stop or will you continue on your path?


This when we need to employ certain methods to help us stay DISCIPLINED on our path. I say disciplined instead of motivated, because motivation wanes, many times without our control. If we solely rely on motivation or inspiration to keep us moving, then we may never reach the goals we wanted to achieve in the first place. However, we employ some level of discipline to our craft and you will thank yourself for pushing forwards even when you didn't feel like it.


These ups and downs will occur countless times throughout ones journey, but you will get better at dealing with them. You just have to remind yourself why you started and what your goals are.


Much of the benefit of learning new things is in not just in acquiring the specific new skill, but developing the ability to deal with setbacks and roadblocks. These sorts of problems exist in every facet of life, and by learning new things, we
